For some, it was extremely bittersweet because Jack (Phil LaMarr) finally found the love of his life, Ashi (Tara Strong), only to lose her due to the results of a time paradox.
The character is introduced as a Japanese prince raised since youth as a samurai warrior, who trains under several teachers in order to destroy the demon Aku with his father's sword.
I loved how unstable Aku was this season; it was great to see the effects that the endless stalemate had on Jack and Aku over the course of this season. Jack goes on to recover his sword and fall in love with one of Aku's daughters, Ashi.
And unfortunately, Batman's staunch "no killing" policy means he lacks anything with the stopping power necessary to kill Jack. Boomstick: Yeah, looks like in this battle, Samurai Jack was a cut above Batman.
Jack finally kills Aku and destroys his tower, and Ashi feels Aku's essence leave her. Jack and Ashi prepare to get married, but as Ashi walks the aisle, she suddenly collapses and fades away, informing Jack with her last breath that Aku's demise invalidates her existence.
The samurai prince arrives on Earth surrounded in dystopian retrofuturism ruled by Aku. The first people he encounters call him "Jack" as a form of slang, which he adopts as his name. His given name is never revealed. Jack only has his kimono, geta, and sword to his avail in his adventures.
The series ends with Jack and Ashi preparing to marry, only for Ashi to faint. She sadly reveals that since she would never have existed without Aku, his defeat means she must vanish too. The show ends with a heartbroken Jack alone in a field when a ladybug lands on his arm, making him think of Ashi.
It is the High Priestess, who led the Cult of Aku. She was able to give birth to her daughters, of which Ashi was one of them by drinking the essence of Aku left in a goblet which she discovered.
Jack's Sword. Samurai Jack's katana, originally The Emperor's katana, is a holy katana that was forged by the three gods Odin, Ra and Rama for the sole purpose of destroying Aku and was the only weapon that was capable of doing so in the world.
In Episode CI, she used her powers as a human-demon hybrid to help transport Jack back to the past to defeat Aku, but tragically passes away on the day of her wedding to Jack as a consequence of Aku's death. Ashi later becomes Jack's love interest and later wife in the series.
To them, the biological sex of their pursuits was often less important than the objective: transcendent beauty. And while many samurai and shoguns had a primary wife for the purposes of procreation and political alliances, they enjoyed numerous liaisons with younger male lovers.
An angry Jack proceeded to lash out at Aku, who simply mutated the three rams into monstrous forms to play with the Samurai before escaping. Jack fought and killed the corrupted rams, only to lose his sword in the process, perched precariously over the pit where the portal once stood.
The majority of the Japanese people know Musashi Miyamoto as Japan's most famous and most skilled swordsman. His status among the Japanese has reached mythic proportions in the same measure that Westerners would give to Muhammad Ali or Michael Jordan. The life of Musashi is the gold standard of samurai in Japan.
Kyo traveled the world and formed the Shiseiten in order to become strong enough to return to the Mibu village and defeat the former Aka no Ou. By the end of the series, he is acknowledged as the strongest fighter in the series.
Thor is far beyond jack's ability to vanquish due to his greater physical stats. His strength alone will be too much for Jack to try and handle, as Mjolnir is far more devastating than Jack's strongest attacks, with one hit being more than enough to put him down.
